We were very sorry to learn about the recent passing of Randy Williamson on July 3, 2024.
Randy was an avid competitor from the early 2000-era until 2014, Throughout this span of time, he racked up two Pro eliminator track championships in 2011 and 2013, along with year-end titles in the Alumni division in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Initially, Randy competed with a pale yellow second-gen Camaro that raced in a variety of categories, principally both Sportsman and Alumni eliminators. In later year, he moved in to a very competitive green early-70’s Vega, winning multiple events including both the Nightfire Nationals and the Halloween Classic.
Hands down, he was not only one of the nicest guys you’d ever cross paths with, but also had a very keen sense of what it took to hit a good reaction time and run close to his dial in, which landed him in the Firebird Winner’s Circle countless time. Through the years he was also a highly-respected business person, owning and operating a radio station that served the greater Treasure Valley and beyond.
On behalf of all of us in the New family and our staff, along with all the racers and families he befriended over the years, he will be missed greatly. We send our sincere condolences and thoughts to the Williamson family members and all those he met and raced against over many years.
God speed, Randy.
