We were deeply saddened to learn about the recent passing of Don Anderson, 73, from Twin Falls. An active and competitive Super Gas racer for many years, both Don and his wife Diana were not only a fixture on the NHRA national and divisional schedule, but also competed at an assortment of Firebird events, too.
UPDATE: Diana sent along a note looking to invite everyone who might like to attend a Celebration of Life in remembrance of Don, which is set for Tuesday August 1, at the Twin Falls Reformed Church at 11:00 am.
He originally founded Don Anderson Construction over four decades ago, building it into a successful business in both the Magic Valley and on into the greater Treasure Valley (and other areas), too. They retired together from the company in 2016, turning the keys of the operation over to their son Kenny (who also also had ties to the sport of drag racing back in the day, racing a very competitive rear-engined dragster).
Don and Diana loved to travel both near and far. They had nearly identical Corvette roadsters that sported colorful paint schemes competing on the Super Gas trail, while also running within Firebird’s Super Pro program at select events like the Nightfire, Ignitor, Halloween Classic and a number of other races over several decades.
On behalf of every member of the New family, our staff and the racing community, we wish to convey our sympathies and prayers to Diana, Kenny and Gena, and the entire Anderson family, close friends and acquaintances. He will be missed.
God speed.
