Steeped in history, the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals traces its roots all the way back to its earliest beginnings in 1972. Originated by Firebird founder Bill New, today his sons and their fine staff often recognized as the New Crew have helped shape and produce one of Idaho’s biggest sporting events.
The line-up of Pro superstars is simply terrific for this year’s mid-Summer four-day and night event once called the 500. The upper pro pits will resemble a nitro forest as no less than two dozen Funny Cars, Top Fuel and Fuel Altereds take a shot at joining a list of past and current champions, along with the grand prize, a sought after NHRA Wally trophy.
The entry roster includes several returning veterans, along with an assortment of new teams that will be making their first appearance in the Treasure Valley foothils just northwest of Idaho’s capital city of Boise. To capture advance discount tickets, stop by any Stinker Store location.
To learn morn about the event, a detailed daily schedule and other information is published here.
Special thanks to event sponsors: Pepsi, Lucas Oil, Meridian Automotive & Machine, Carl’s Cycles Sales, and Larry H. Miller Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram, along with media partners: Idaho’s News Channel 7, 96.9FM-the Eagle, X Rocks 100.3FM, all of which help throughout the season promoting a number of Firebird major events.

In Pursuit of the coveted NHRA Wally trophy!
For those of you competing in the sportsman series, which also offers NHRA Wally trophies to the overall four-day point’s champions, along with bonus money, we still encourage and welcome all racers that might like to come run for the richest sportsman race of the entire season at Firebird. With a whopping $80,000 on the line, it’s one heck of a weekend of racing and fun.
The Bracketeers are nationally-recognized as the oldest major bracket tournament in the country, which dates back to 1976. Former champions include virtually the who’s who in the world of bracket racing. Five different “main” event eliminators will be offered daily with champions crowned at the end of each evening. Additionally, we will qualify the Lucas Oil Top Fire class on Thursday and Friday, followed by first round on Saturday night for the quickest 12 open wheelers and the quickest 12 full-bodied rides.
Come give it a try – it’s an amazing event!
