What a night in Portland celebrating our drag racing champions! Firebird was proudly represented at the NHRA Northwest Division 6 Awards Banquet on Saturday night, January 10, at the Sheraton Portland Airport, with four Idaho/Utah racers earning well-deserved trips to the podium.

Dan Lafferty captured the Division 6 title in Top Sportsman after coming heartbreakingly close to sweeping the World Championship late in 2025. Will Carnell claimed the Super Shootout Series title in Super Street, while Journey Morell went back-to-back, winning the Summit E.T. Finals Championship in Jr. Thunder for the second straight year. Rounding out the night, Race Fuller earned the Team Finals victory in Mission, B.C., thanks to his consistent performance behind the wheel.

The Banquet also awarded a variety of championships and special awards to a vast array of racers from all over the northwest and Canada.

We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for everyone.
