It was a race for the ages. The NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Opener presented by Peterson Chevrolet helped launch Firebird’s 50th year of racing.

In impressive fashion, the Nitro Funny Car class attracted the quickest 8-car field in track history. In near perfect air, the record books took a pounding on three separate occasions. Most noteworthy, Ryan Hodgson unleashed a 5.60 e.t. at 260 miles per hour. The Canadian driver is now the quickest and fastest nitro pilot in Idaho drag racing history.

Thirteen champions were crowned late in the afternoon on Sunday. Jason Rupert saved his best for last unleashing a monster 5.60 at 256.80 mph to defeat Dan Horan Jr., who finished at 5.76-247.52.
