IGNITOR FINALS SET FOR SUNDAY AT FIREBIRD!

Saturday’s wet weather ended qualifying and time trials around 2 pm, after several classes made their final runs at the start of the day. We are looking forward to the final day of the 54th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by The Blower Shop, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 18. The action-packed conclusion will feature a total of twelve different classes from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Race Series, Heritage Funny Car Series and Firebird’s Gold Cup chase.

Highlighting Sunday’s excitement will be the quickest AA/Funny Car field in Firebird history, with eliminations kicking off at high noon. The first-round matchups are locked in:

• Westerfield vs. Monise

• Capps vs. Boychuk

• Sitko vs. Horan

• Espeseth vs. Cottrell

Despite Saturday’s weather shutdown, many teams made the most of the cool morning conditions to finalize qualifying. With all fields now set, eliminations will launch Sunday at 8:30 AM for NHRA Sportsman and Gold Cup categories.
