It has been an extra busy off season preparing for the upcoming racing calendar. By all indications, it is shaping up to be one of the best schedules in Firebird history. The 2018 track schedules have mailed. Or you can pick up a schedule at region-wide track sponsor location.

Starting in late-March and continuing through October, the schedule is loaded with an exciting variety of dates.

Headlined by the grand daddy of them all, the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals returns for the 47th consecutive year. Firebird’s signature race weekend returns August 9-12. The planning wheels are in motion for what promises to be an extra special weekend of racing. The event is aligned with the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series. The Nightfire will feature AA/Funny Cars, AA/Fuel Dragsters, AA/Fuel Altereds, Pro Modified Doorslammers, and the famed Bracketeer Series.

Many recognizable and highly popular events and series return to the Firebird racing docket. Highlights include the Fairly Reliable Bob’s Club Challenge Series and High School & Alumni Championships.

What’s New for 2018:

We will hosting the inaugural Spring Best of Detroit race presented by Interstate Batteries. Growing popularity with the September event helped encourage us to add a similar race in May. We think the new runoff name will catch on quickly, too. “King of the Spring” will pit the winners of Chevy, Ford, Mopar and BOP Cups.

The traditional Summer Jam event will move to September. The NAPA Import Fall Jam will now take place Saturday, Sept. 15th, for all tuner nation. Help us pass along the new weekend for Fall Jam with your friends.

Be sure and mark your calendars for May 4-6. We will host the first Lucas Oil Drag Race Series in the Northwest Division.  The 48th annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Nitro Opener presented by Peterson Chevrolet will feature a key Heritage Series Funny Car date. Eliminators include: Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Sportsman Motorcycle/Sled, Super Pro, Pro, and Heavy.

The Little Caesars Pizza Fox Hunt returns over the June 15-16 weekend. Presented by Bronco Motors, the Fox Hunt showcases Jets, Funny Cars and the Outlaw wheelstander. Unique to the Fox Hunt weekend, all ladies get in for free.

This October establishs an exciting new milestone, too. We will be celebrating the 25th Silver Anniversary weekend of the famed NAPA Auto Parts Halloween Classic. Be sure and put this event on your race planner.
