The 51st edition of the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor returns to Firebird on April 29-30, May 1. Presented by Peterson Chevrolet, the track’s longest running event will be showcasing the excitement of 250 mph AA/Nitro Funny Cars.

The Ignitor marks the first major event of the 2022 Season, which is steeped in tradition and prestige. The winner of the inaugural Ignitor was none other than Don “the Snake” Prudhomme with his Hot Wheels Funny Car.

New for 2022, Sunday, May 1st will be Military Appreciation Day. Active military and veterans will receive FREE Ignitor spectator admission for the final day of eliminations.

Bobby Cottrell, the reigning NHRA Funny Car World Champion and defending Ignitor and Nightfire winner, will be shooting to repeat his success with the Austin & O’Brien “Northwest Hitter” Camaro. Current pre-registered teams include: “the Patriot” of Dan Horan Jr., Kris Krabill piloting the New York-based Bartone & Lebor Camaro, Billy Morris driving the Eddie Knox “Problem Child”, Drew Austin’s “Pro-Max” Camaro, Tim Boychuk’s “Happy Hour”, Michael Peck’s “Instigator”, Jerry Espeseth “Rolling Thunder 2.0”, Chris Davis “Old School Nitro”, and Idaho’s very own “Nitro Spud” of the Rice Bros.

The Ignitor will also host a two-day major bracket tournament for sportsman racers (open to all competitors) in Super Pro, Pro, Sled/Bike and Sportsman. The event also marks the third and fourth stop in the 2022 Boise Muffler/NAPA Gold Cup point’s series. Learn more about this exciting new opportunity by opening the flyer.
