It was a spectacular night at the 45th Annual Pepsi Nightfire Nationals as thirty-two professional cars officially kicked off qualifying on Family Night presented by Idaho’s News Channel 7.

In AA/Funny Car, Cory Lee grabbed the headlines with the “California Hustler” Trans Am capturing the top spot at 5.77-249.81. In Top Fuel, Adam Sorokin charged to a 5.87-221.05 to earn the early pole. And in AA/Fuel Altered, the “Heatseeker” roadster belted out a superb 6.02-240.64 in front of a big Friday night audience. BB/Funny Cars opened the show at just after 8 pm and Greg Howland delivered a stout 6.71-209.36 with the crowd favorite “Zeus” Corvette following a monster burnout.

After nearly twelve hours of sportsman action, seven new champions earned Nightfire titles, including Marissa Kidd who won $5,000 in Bracketeer and Jeff Taylor who earned $2,000 for the Pro title.
